Creating Your Account

Getting started with Public Wager is quick and easy. Follow this guide to create your account and start trading in prediction markets.

Before You Begin​

Make sure you have:

  • ✅ A valid email address
  • ✅ A secure password (we'll help you create one)
  • ✅ Access to verify your email

Time Required: About 2-3 minutes

Step-by-Step Account Creation​

Step 1: Visit Public Wager​

Go to publicwager.com and click the Sign Up button in the top right corner.

Step 2: Enter Your Details​

You'll need to provide:

  • Email Address: Your primary email for account access
  • Username: Choose a unique display name (3-20 characters)
  • Password: Create a strong password (minimum 8 characters)

Password Requirements​

For your security, your password must include:

  • At least 8 characters
  • One uppercase letter
  • One lowercase letter
  • One number
  • One special character (@, #, $, %, etc.)

Example of a strong password: Market2024!

Step 3: Verify Your Email​

After submitting your information:

  1. Check your email inbox for a verification message
  2. Click the verification link (valid for 24 hours)
  3. You'll be redirected back to Public Wager

Didn't receive the email?

  • Check your spam/junk folder
  • Wait 2-3 minutes for delivery
  • Click "Resend Verification Email" if needed

Step 4: Complete Your Profile (Optional)​

Once verified, you can optionally:

  • Add a profile picture
  • Write a short bio
  • Set display preferences
  • Choose notification settings

You can always update these later in your account settings.

Securing Your Account​

Add an extra layer of security:

  1. Go to Settings → Security
  2. Click Enable 2FA
  3. Scan the QR code with an authenticator app
  4. Enter the 6-digit code to confirm

Recommended Apps:

  • Google Authenticator
  • Authy
  • Microsoft Authenticator

Account Security Best Practices​

🔒 Use a unique password - Don't reuse passwords from other sites

🔒 Enable 2FA - Adds extra protection to your account

🔒 Keep email secure - Your email is the key to account recovery

🔒 Log out on shared devices - Always log out when using public computers

🔒 Review login activity - Check your recent logins regularly

Funding Your Account​

Before you can start trading, you'll need to add funds:

  1. Go to Wallet in the navigation menu
  2. Click Deposit
  3. Choose your preferred payment method
  4. Follow the prompts to complete your deposit

Available Payment Methods:

  • Credit/Debit Cards
  • Bank Transfer
  • Cryptocurrency (if supported)
  • Other payment options

Account Verification Levels​

Public Wager has different verification levels:

Basic Account (Email Verified)​

  • ✅ Browse markets
  • ✅ View prices and charts
  • ✅ Paper trading (practice mode)
  • ❌ Real money deposits
  • ❌ Real money trading

Verified Account (Identity Confirmed)​

  • ✅ All basic features
  • ✅ Deposit real money
  • ✅ Place real bets
  • ✅ Withdraw winnings
  • ✅ Higher trading limits

How to Get Verified​

To unlock full features:

  1. Go to Settings → Verification
  2. Upload a government-issued ID
  3. Complete identity verification
  4. Approval typically within 24-48 hours

Required Documents:

  • Passport, Driver's License, or National ID
  • Clear, color photo showing all corners
  • Document must be valid (not expired)

Troubleshooting Common Issues​

Can't Receive Verification Email​

Solution:

  1. Check spam/junk folder
  2. Add noreply@publicwager.com to contacts
  3. Try a different email address
  4. Contact support if issue persists

Forgot Password​

Solution:

  1. Click Forgot Password on login page
  2. Enter your email address
  3. Check email for reset link
  4. Create a new password

Username Already Taken​

Solution:

  • Try adding numbers or underscores
  • Check for typos in your desired username
  • Choose a unique variation

Verification Taking Too Long​

Solution:

  • Allow 24-48 hours for processing
  • Check that documents are clear and valid
  • Contact support after 48 hours if still pending
